1.3 Defining Digital Media

Media, which is the plural of “medium,” refers to the ways in which you can communicate, and share information, with the masses.

Throughout history, individuals have used media, such as books, newspapers, radio, and television, to distribute information to the public (see the Timeline of Communication Technology). Today, anyone with access to the Internet can use new media tools to create, remix, and share information with the public. Information is now available anytime and anywhere and it can be constructed by anyone.
